Rear Commodore Mooring & Storage Report (Nautical News November)
Great to see another wonderful Opening Day the Club with the Summer Season now underway.
I would like to give a big thankyou to Mark Purser for smoothing off the rigging area grass and laying some new turf. I would ask people to please not to drive on the rigging area, as with the water restrictions it is getting very difficult to grow the grass. Also if the boats can be washed on the grass so we water it at the same time as wash our boats, I am sure that will help. It should also be noted that the parking area between the old slipway and B jetty is for trailer parking only on Saturdays.
We ask that the Disabled Bay is used, where possible, as a drop off zone as we have limited places where we can unload disabled people.
The boat shed had a long over due clean up on the busy bee and a couple of the Sabre Sailors have lowered one of the boat racks to make putting the boats up easier. The Building Committee has re-installed the rack at the end of the shed. Danny is currently asking the boats that do not sail to leave the shed for those that do sail, as we still have a lot more boats that we need to fit into the shed so we will look at what else can be done.
Pens are as always a real premium at our Club and with the marina full I would advise people who are looking at upgrading there size of boat to be aware that it is now to the point that you are unlikely to get your larger boat in the complex. On the bright side there are a couple of moorings available for smaller boats.
People should also be aware to keep their boats locked up as we have had some security issues around the Club. The Committee is currently looking into the viability of a CCTV system for the Club.
