Centreboard Captain Report (Nautical News November)
Hello All,
First off I would like to thank Maureen for leaving the Centreboard Section in such a well organised and healthy position. She has done such a great job over the past two years as Centreboard Captain.
Thank you to all the volunteers that have put their hand up to help out on the Centreboard Committee this season. It is good to have so many volunteers willing to put in their time to help out the Club.
I would like to congratulate Jack Swallow on being elected as the new Junior Centreboard Captain for the 2011/12 season. He has already put forward a few good ideas.
We have had a great start to the 2011/12 Season and it has been fantastic to see so many sailors each week. It’s good to see a lot of new keen sailors joining our fleets. Our two new fleets, the O'Pen BIC and the Sabre, have strong numbers already.
We have hosted the first ever State Heat for the Sabre Class, with about 20 boats from around the state sailing up and down our little bit of river.
We have also hosted the Pelicans in the Peter Mapstone Race with good close racing among all local and visiting boats.
The Junior Disco again was a great success with about 60 kids having a great time on the dance floor, and with their parents thinking that they were still kids themselves.
To all the Flying Ants, Skates and Sharpies that are travelling over east for their National Championships and the Pelicans travelling to Esperance for the State Championships over the Christmas break, Good luck and safe travels and hope to see a few trophies back at the Club.
And to all, have a Merry Christmas and a Safe New Year and see you all down round the Club.
