Centreboard

5 classes of Centreboard dinghy are sailed at EFYC.  We run an active racing programme every Saturday afternoon during the season and participate in the Winter Series races which are held every 2 or 3 weeks on Sunday afternoons in conjunction with the Keelboat Section.

The Centreboard Section have a strong volunteer support group.  Volunteers work on rescue boats, Start Tower, on the Start Boat, in the Canteen and in Coaching roles.  Many parents of the junior classes are active volunteers.  The Section supports inter-club, state level and national level sailing events for the various classes represented at the Club and each Centreboard class is represented on the Club’s Centreboard Committee.

EFYC also provide Junior Sail Training programmes during the summer.  Training programmes are also arranged on a class-by-class basis through the Associations for Pelican, Flying Ant and National 125.

  • O'pen BIC

    Open BIC sailors enjoy the wind

    O'pen BIC: Launched in 2006, and arriving at EFYC in 2010, the O'pen BIC has brought a wind of change to the world of dinghy sailing for kids. The O'pen Bic, with its modern and powerful rig, is a fast boat, quick to respond and self-bailing.  Now an International ISAF class, a complete race program has been established world-wide. EFYC has a fleet of 10 O'pen BICs used in our Junior Sail Training School and a fleet of O'pen BIC class racing in our regular sailing program.  For more information visit www.openbic.com

  • Pelican

    Pelicans
    Pelican: The Pelican is a 2.9m-long gaff-rig fibreglass or timber dinghy sailed by junior sailors from 8 to 16 yrs.

  • Flying Ant

    Flying Ant: The Flying Ant is a 3.2m-long skiff sailed by junior sailors from 9 to 18 years.

  • The National 125

     
    National 125: The National 125 is a 3.8m-long, 2 person intermediate racing dinghy sailed by sailors in their early teens and upwards.

  • Skate

     Skate
    Skate: The Skate is a 4.3m-long, 2 person skiff sailed by sailors in their late teens and upwards.

  • Sabre

    Sabre: A 3.8m long, single handed dinghy sailed by sailors from their early teens and up to their 90’s.  Performance suits the average sailor rather than the super athletic skipper and at an affordable price.   • Sharpie

    Sharpie: The Sharpie is a 6m-long, 3 person senior dinghy.

  • Pacer


    Pacer:     A 3.8m-long 2 person fibreglass dinghy used predominantly for inter-club team sailing. Junior sailors from the Club’s Youth Development Squad sail in inter-club racing in Pacers.
